College Preparation at Elan School
Elan's college counselor assists Elan students in gathering teacher recommendations, determing the right college setting, filling out college applications and writing college essays.
Elan School is a closed SAT testing site. Students continue on to two-and four-year colleges, as well as to a variety of vocational programs and schools. More than 300 schools, colleges and universities throughout the country have accepted Elan School graduates during its nearly forty year history. Approximately 80% of our high school graduates are accepted to college. The remainder may enter the work force or join the armed services, but several of these students have long-range goals that include furthering their education.
Students who are at or near the end of their high school requirements, but still need to remain at Elan may be allowed to take some college courses. Elan has an adjunct professor from the University of New England who offers some college courses here on Elan's campus. Some Elan students are also allowed to attend college courses at one of Maine's community colleges or a branch of the University of Maine System.
