Elan School Administration
Elan School Administration Faculty members at Elan School are certified in their subject specialty and/or special education. Elan School conducts weekly faculty meetings allow continuous collaboration, brainstorming and curriculum development. Most teachers at Elan either have earned or are working toward advanced degrees. Various professions are represented among the teaching staff here at Elan, including a professional musician, retired Army officer, private business owner and psychologist.

Elan's Superintendent, Frank McDermott, was appointed to that position in 2004. He has been Elan School's Principal since 1998. He spent thirty-four years in public education, the last twenty-five as an Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools in Maine. Frank has been recognized both nationally and locally for leadership in Quality Principles application in education and the use of technology to transform schools. Mr. McDermott has a masters degree in Educational Administration and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Administration from the University of Maine.

Meg Waters, Elan School's Special Education Coordinator, joined in August of 2005. She received her masters degrees in exceptionality and administration from the University of Maine in 1975 and 1980 and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova University in 1990. Prior to joining Elan, Meg worked as a classroom teacher, special education teacher and for the past thirty years as Coordinator of Special Services in Raymond, Maine. Her extensive background and varied experiences in education, through both national and statewide organizations and initiatives, allows her to enhance student learning and serve as a resource providing support to the faculty, staff and families.

Lisa Ferland, full-time Guidance Counselor at Elan School, aids students in preparing for college. She received her masters degree in school psychology from the University of Southern Maine in 1997. Prior to joining Elan, Lisa worked as a school psychologist from 1997 until 2003, working in the public school sector with students in all grades. Lisa joined Elan School in 2003 and assists students in gathering teacher recommendations, filling out college applications, scheduling college visits and determining the right college setting.
