Elan's Andrew Is Top Overall Runner In The MAISAD
In just his second year of running cross country, Elan's Andrew was the top runner in the MAISAD in the 2010 season. The award was determined by finishing position throughout many cross country races this season. Hebron's freshman Makoto from Japan, finished as runner-up. Andrew's rise to the top was the result of outworking many of the opposition. In the 2010 MAISAD Cross Country Season, 5 different athletes won individual races. Gould's Andrew won at Hebron and Gould. His teammate Nolan won at Kents Hill. Charlie of North Haven won both of the Hyde races. Elan's Sumner won the Relays at Augusta. Highlights from Andrew's season included his win at Hebron in the last race of regular season along with a number of 2nd place finishes, including his blistering time of 16:39 at the MAISAD Championship at the hilly UMA course. Andrew along with teammate Sumner led Elan to a winning season. "The only meet we didn't win, we lost because Sumner wasn't there", said Breitel. He was referring to the Gould Victory at Hebron Academy during the second race of the season. Sumner struggled with injuries early, before winning the Elan Relays.
