Bucs Just One Big Family

Bucs: The Tradition of Return

The Buccaneers have been participating in the Maine Marathon for over a decade.  The event is rich in tradition.  It occurs on the first Sunday of each October.  The race stretches from Back Cove in Portland along scenic Route 88 through Falmouth and Cumberland Foreside and then back to Portland.

The Buccaneers also have a tradition of having alumni return to participate in the event. Karen Menzies

ran on the 2006 team.  Other alumni have returned to complete the entire marathon.  Last year,

Sarah Levesque and Sean Sullivan both returned to team up with the Bucs on relay legs.

One Big Family

Leni Webber joined the Buccaneers for the day.  She was visiting her son Ben on a family visit in Maine. Running on a team called the “Bucs in Tha House”, she finished the final leg of her son’s relay team in the 2010 Maine Marathon.  Her husband Al, was there at the relay exchanges cheering both of them on. “I thought it was great!” said Al.  A year ago, he couldn’t imagine this would be happening.  “With the help of Elan, we’ve come a long way as a family".
