Track and Field Awards
Elan’s epic win at the MAISAD Championship in the 1600 meter relay highlighted the awards ceremony on June 21st. “The victory over NYA (North Yarmouth Academy) was heroic. You had Jack running against Henry Sterling, who is one of the best distance athletes in Maine. The old school Bucs would have been proud” said head coach Peter E. Rowe.
The 1600 meter Relay team consisted of: Ben, Sean, Sumner and Jack who was named Most Valuable Player. Jack won two gold Medals at the Maine State Class C Track and Field Championship, held at Foxcroft Academy on June 8th, 2010
Dan was recognized as Most Determined Athlete and Gabe was awarded the Most Improved Athlete. Receiving Coach's Players Awards were Elan students Josh and Paige.
All Academic MAISAD Team
Daniela, Gabe, Sumner and Josh were named to the All Academic MAISAD team which honors "impact athletes" who have also demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. The honorees are nominated by each school’s athletic directors and headmasters. Hebron, Hyde, Kents Hill, Bridgton Academy, Gould Academy, Carrabasset Valley, Maine Central Insitute, North Yarmouth Academy are recognizing schools.
Daniela Is Presented with the Maine Principal's Award
Senior Daniela was presented with the Maine Principal's Award by Headmaster Foss in ceremony at Elan. Both attended an honors luncheon in Bangor where award recipients met. The Maine Principals' Award was established in 1984 to recognize students with good citizenship and academic excellence. "Daniela epitomizes a student athlete who is a role model to others, a person who is kind and helpful. She represents excellence" said Mr. Foss.
