Boston Celtics

"Most people know Red Auerbach for all the championships and his victory cigar.

But did you know that Red Auerbach was the first NBA coach to draft a black player (Chuck Cooper).

He was also the first NBA coach to start five black players in the NBA.

He was the first General Manager to hire the first black coach in the NBA (which was Bill Russell)."

Celebrating the Boston Celtics

Celebrating the most successful professional sport franchise in the history of sport, the students of Elan recently hosted a special cultural seminar and meal on the Boston Celtics.  "I think it is important that people recogize the significance of the Celtics in history said Sam Mc, the spirited department head of the kitchen.  "They are the greatest sports dynasty.  But I also wanted to share my love for them.

The students decorated the student hall in green and white, which are the Celtic's team colors.  They replicated the championship banners that hang in the rafters of the Boston Garden, including the numbers of the great Celtics whose numbers have been retired by the franchise.  They showed a video history of the franchise including highlighting the most recent championship in 2008.

During the seminar there were also other gems of information that captured the social and historical importance including these.   "Most people know Red Auerbach for all the championships and his victory cigar.  But did you know that Red Auerbach was the first NBA coach to draft a black player (Chuck Cooper).  He was also the first NBA coach to start five black players in the NBA. He was the first General Manager to hire the first on black coach who was Bill Russell. " exclaimed Jared Co.
