Sandra Colburn - Elan School Faculty Member Sandra Colburn

Sandra graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with BS and Masters degree in Science Education. She has completed additional graduate studies in science, guidance and special education. Sandra retired from a local public high school after teaching Biology and Chemistry for 39 years. She joined Élan 6 years ago and enjoys the opportunity to help students as they develop their study habits, skills and knowledge of Biology and Chemistry.

 
Richard White - Elan School Faculty Member Richard White

Mr. Richard White has taught math at Elan for 4 years. he received his Masters degree in Math from Boston College. Mr. White is now in his 43rd year of teaching mathematics and recently retired after teaching 23 years at Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine and 10 years at Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT.

At Cheverus, Mr. White was the head football coach of the schools' only State Championship team. he was also head coach of the Math Team which won 5 consecutive state championships. At Loomis-Chaffee, Mr. White was also the head basketball coach of the school's only New England championship basketball team.

Mr. White continues to enjoy teaching mathematics and has developed many outstanding students in this subject area.

 
Craig Treadwell - Elan School Faculty Member Craig Treadwell

Craig joined the teaching staff at Elan during the summer of 2000. Craig has been teaching computer classes and operating the computer lab during his tenure. He has made many improvements, including introducing the use of the internet as a teaching and research tool.

He has worked with teenage youth groups for over 35 years. Over these many years, he has developed a strong understanding of the dynamics of working with youth.

He is a graduate of Boise State University, with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting

 
Robert Couture - Elan School Faculty Member Robert Couture

Robert has a B.S. and M.S. from Central Connecticut State University. Before joining Elan School as a French and History teacher in 1995, he taught French in Public Schools in Connecticut and Maine for 20 years. He was a Fullbright exchange teacher in Paris, France from 1987-1988.

 
Bill Foss - Elan School Faculty Member Bill Foss

Bill came to Elan School in 1995 and is currently the Evening Administrator and also teaches History.

Bill received his B.S. Degree from Gorham State College and his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Maine. Bill has spent nearly thirty years in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent of schools.

At Elan, Bill assists with the girls cross country team.

 
Mr. Josiah Adams - Elan School Faculty Member Mr. Josiah Adams

Mr. Adams graduated from Marlboro College in 1967. Before coming to Elan in 2000, he taught at Collegio St. John's, Honduras for many years, where he was also active in the CODEFOR program and in International Graduate Placements.

At Elan, Mr. Adams teaches Honors Chemistry, Physics and Introductory Astronomy and from time to time a course in Critical Thinking and a course in Music History. He is also active as a tutor and in the college selection and placement of his students.

 
Skip Crosby - Elan School Faculty Member Skip Crosby

Though only in his second year at Elan, Skip has taught Spanish in the classroom for 18 years. Skip lived, studied and worked in Colombia, South America for two years. He has taught at Winslow High School, Cape Elizabeth High School and is currently teaching at Poland Regional High School.

Skip has a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics from Gordon College. He earned a certificate of completion in the two year Spanish program for foreigners at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Columbia. He also has his Education degree from the University of Maine at Farmington. In 1998, Skip earned a Masters Degree in Spanish Language from Middlebury College.

Skip has led several exchange groups to Central America and Spain.

 
Patrick Mulligan - Elan School Faculty Member Patrick Mulligan

Patrick has been a Certified Master teacher for 18 years, teaching both Life and Physical Sciences to middle school and high school age students. In addition to teaching, Patrick has coached, designed and directed after school science programs, and was the Department Chairperson at his former public school.

Patrick graduated from the University of Maine and holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology.

 
Franklin L Robbins - Elan School Faculty Member Franklin L Robbins

Frank joined the Elan School teaching staff in January 2007. Frank attended Northeastern University in Boston and Pacific Western University in Los Angeles. He has been a pilot for a major airline and served as Captain on the Boeing 737, Boeing 727, and Airbus A-300. He also worked as a flight instructor for several years teaching basic, advanced and aerobatic flying.

He has worked with children in 4H, as a baseball coach, swimming instructor and volunteer math teacher for a cooperative home school program.

 
Norman J Pelletier - Elan School Faculty Member Norman J Pelletier

Norm teaches various English and Literature classes as well as Spanish. He is certified to teach French and Social Studies.

He earned a B.A. in English from the University of New England, and a M.A. in Education from Central Michigan University. He also earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate study (Masters + 30) in Education from the University of Maine.

Other than serving in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, Mr. Pelletier has been a teacher and administrator in Maine for 28 years.

Since his retirement from public school work, he has taught the last 6 years at Elan School.

 
Martha Hilton - Elan School Faculty Member Martha Hilton

Martha has been an English teacher at Elan School since 1997. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1990 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Special Education.

Martha teaches SAT preparation classes for Elan students on weekends. Before becoming a teacher, Martha worked in hotel management, food preparation, and retail management for a national bookstore chain.

She brings a unique combination of academic skill and practical life experiences to Élan students

 
Sarah Poulin - Elan School Faculty Member Sarah Poulin

Sarah began working at Elan as a private Wilson Reading tutor in April of 2004. In the summer of 2005, she was hired as a tutor/teacher to work with students who have Special Education needs.

Sarah graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1970. after raising five sons and working in retail for five years, she was employed by the Auburn School system in 1996. Sarah also taught Driver Education for 10 years.

She truly enjoys her work with the Elan School staff and students.

 
Paul Clement - Elan School Faculty Member Paul Clement

Paul graduated from Boston College and majored in History and Russian studies. He then received an M.A. in Sociology from UCLA and pursued doctoral studies until moving to Maine where he was employed as an Economic Researcher and copywriter.

After a 5 year stint as Town Manager, he then was employed as a School Business Manager and Social Studies teacher at a local high school. Later, he also began a career as adjunct faculty at both Unity and Husson Colleges.

Paul has been an Elan Summer School teacher for over 25 years and the last 8 years at Elan as an English and Humanities instructor.
