Special Education at Elan
Here at Elan, we understand each child’s special challenges and offer several avenues of support to ensure those needs are met. Our goal is to present every student with materials appropriate to his or her learning style. We strive to offer our students and their families the tools they need to succeed. We appreciate that all learners do not process information in the same way, or at the same rate. Our seasoned teaching staff strives to individualize the curriculum to ensure that students achieve at their highest potential. As an approved Private Special Purpose School in Maine, we adhere to all special education laws, both state and federal. We provide the opportunity for parents to attend their child’s IEP meetings either in person or via phone conference, and fully participate in the IEP process. Our Special Education personnel work with the Special Education staff from our sending school districts to ensure that each student’s IEP goals reflect his/her current needs. We find this collaborative effort pays great dividends for our students.
Our Special Education Director is available Monday-Thursday to answer questions from parents regarding their child’s program. Our current parents appreciate her knowledge, experience and approachable style.
