Elan School students' weekday schedules begin at 8 a.m., with showers, cleaning dorm rooms and breakfast.
From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is a rotation of job functioning, physical education, group and individual sessions, administrative meetings, and other events necessary to maintain balanced structure.
Elan School life skills ciriculum also runs during the day. In this course, Elan students learn how to effectively communicate with others and how to develop the skills required for responsible living. |
Elan School is a demanding place. Students are busy weekdays with group counseling, house functioning and school.
Elan recognizes the need for a change of pace, so weekends and holidays are less structured. Students sleep until 11 a.m. and have brunch at 1 p.m. The rest of the day is usually spent in recreational activities.
Elan School is nonsectarian. Attendance and participation in religious services is voluntary and transportation is provided.
Due to rolling admissions, Elan's population changes frequently. On average, our population is usually 65% male and 20% minority.
Lunch is at noon, dinner is at 4:30 p.m.
School is from 6:00 p.m.to 10:30 p.m.
Students return to their dorm rooms around 11 p.m.
Lights-out is half an hour after students return to their dorm rooms. |
